A beautiful, confident smile is what every person deserves. In some cases, that smile is made possible with the help of cosmetic dental procedures such as dental crowns. At Exceptional Dentistry At Johns Creek, Dr. Connell wants to help each patient reveal their best, most vibrant smile.
One of the services we use at our Suwanee, GA dental office is CEREC dental crown treatment, also known as “one-day” or "same-day" dental crowns.
What Is A CEREC Dental Crown?
Traditionally, getting a dental crown placed takes 2 visits to your dentist. On the first visit the tooth is prepared, an impression is taken of your teeth and that impression is sent to a lab where the crown will be made. You wear a temporary crown while you wait for the lab to create your permanent crown (usually 2 weeks). On the second visit to the dentist, your permanent crown is placed on your tooth.
At Exceptional Dentistry At Johns Creek, Dr. Connell believes in using the latest dental technology to benefit each patient, which is why we use CEREC dental crown treatment.
A CEREC dental crown is made in the office during your dental appointment, eliminating the need for waiting on a lab and having to wear a temporary crown. The crown is created to fit your tooth perfectly and is made by a computer while you wait using CAD-CAM technology. When finished, your permanent dental crown will be placed and you can enjoy your improved smile immediately!
Do I Need A Crown?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that Dr. Connell will place over a tooth to restore its strength, shape, size, or overall appearance.
Most people are ideal candidates for a crown. This dental procedure can improve the appearance of a damaged tooth while also restoring the tooth’s natural function. After a dental crown is placed, most patients are able able to enjoy chewing without pain and be able to smile with confidence.
The crown replaces the external portion of the tooth down the the gums in order to help patients create their best smile. Our Suwanee dental team may recommend a crown to:
- Cover a dental implant
- Restore a broken or worn tooth
- Protect a tooth, weakened from decay, from breaking
- Hold a dental bridge in place
- Cover misshaped or discolored
- Support a tooth with a large filling
- Cover a tooth that has been treated using root canal therapy
How Long Will A Dental Crown Last?
Most crowns last between 5 and 15 years. It really depends on the wear and tear the dental crown is exposed to and if a patient takes care of the crown by regularly brushing and flossing.
A crown should be treated just like your natural teeth, so regular cleanings and checkups with Dr. Connell at Exceptional Dentistry At Johns Creek are important!
